SOUTHERN & COASTAL MAINE
Exterior Painting & Staining
Protect your home. Bring out its character. Careful surface preparation, thoughtful coating choices, and a clear plan for Maine siding, trim, porches, and natural wood.
A Lasting Finish Starts With Preparation
Douglass Painting provides exterior painting, staining, and restoration across Central, Southern, and Coastal Maine. Careful preparation and a clear written scope help you understand the work before it begins.
A Clear Scope for Every Surface
Projects may include siding, cedar shakes, window trim, fascia, soffits, doors, shutters, porches, railings, and outbuildings. Your estimate identifies the surfaces to be coated, protection needs, and exclusions. Decks, fences, and additional structures are discussed separately.
Preparation Before Paint
Preparation can include washing, removing loose paint, sanding rough edges, priming bare or repaired areas, and caulking appropriate joints. We protect nearby landscaping, windows, and surfaces outside the painting scope.
Soft trim, damaged boards, and recurring peeling deserve attention before a fresh coating. We discuss visible repair needs and light carpentry in your estimate. If additional damage is uncovered, we explain the proposed work before adding it to the project.
Coatings and Weather
The existing finish, surface condition, exposure, and look you want help determine the coating approach. Natural wood and previously painted siding need different planning. We follow the selected coating manufacturer’s preparation and application instructions.
Rain, damp surfaces, temperature, access, and staging can affect the schedule. We discuss expectations and keep you informed as conditions change.
